Grace Chapel Serving Ministries

At Grace Chapel our mission is to eradicate homelessness in whatever form it presents itself. We believe every person deserves a spiritual, emotional, and physical home. While we seek to live out our mission every day by helping connect people to the Gospel, we also know God often calls us out of our day to day and into the lives of others to serve.

Here at Grace Chapel we call those serving ministries.

Our serving ministries offer both local and international opportunities to be in ministry with our neighbors who are touched by some form of homelessness.

Come Serve with Us...

At Grace Chapel

Hospitality is a vital mark of a Christian community. When people make their way to Grace Chapel on Sunday mornings, we want them to know they are home. Serving on a hospitality team means welcoming people home on Sunday mornings.

How Can I Serve?

In-person worship hospitality team members serve one Sunday a month by arriving prior to the 11:00 a.m. service and directing people as they arrive on where to park and sit in the outdoor worship area. They also help collect the offering and send everyone off with a smile at the end of the service. If you are interested in serving on an in-person team, contact Pastor Courtney.

Virtual worship hospitality team members serve one Sunday a month by logging onto worship on Facebook prior to service and greeting everyone in the comments section. Team members respond to others’ comments with encouraging and welcoming words as well. These teams also join us for the after-worship Zoom hangout following worship on their assigned Sunday. If you are interested in serving on a virtual team, contact Pastor Courtney.

In the Local Community

Through our Power Packs Ministry we seek to provide the basic necessity of food for children at local elementary schools. No parent or guardian should ever be put in the position to choose between paying the rent/mortgage and utilities or filling hungry bellies. Children receive a bag with non-perishable food items to help supplement the families’ groceries each weekend.

Through our Community Garden we seek to help feed our community, Power Packs, and the homeless. There are several ways to help with this initiative! If you’re more of a behind these scenes person, we’d love to have you sponsor the garden by choosing one of the following options:

  • $40 - sponsor plant + all growing needs
  • $80 - sponsor plant + trellis and/or tools
  • $150 - all of the above + initial infrastructure

If you are more hands on, we’d love to have you as a volunteer to help water, maintain and harvest the vegetables! You can text/call Kristin Frank directly at 817-729-8326 for more details if you are interested in volunteering.

In the Global Community

Operación Abrigo Partnership

We partner with other local United Methodist churches to send teams to build homes near Juarez, Mexico each year with Operación Abrigo. Operación Abrigo was founded in 1996 by Rev. Jose Luis Portillo in Tierra Neuva, Mexico. Since then, over 7,000 homes, two churches, a medical clinic, and a vocational school have been built to serve the poor in the community. The homes are built of cinderblocks with a cement floor. Each team is led by maistros who teach the team how to mix mortar and lay the blocks. The family often helps build the home alongside the team. At the end of the weekend, the team and family participate in a home dedication ceremony.

Check out the Operación Abrigo Website here.
